  • Barclay Street Recreation Precinct Upgrades

    The design and construction of an all-inclusive play space, skate park, site access and park at Barclay Street recreational precinct, Eden.

    Funded by: The Barclay Street recreation precinct upgrade project is jointly funded by the Australian Government, NSW Government and Bega Valley Shire Council.



  • Bega and Brogo Rivers Flood Warning System

    The Bega and Brogo Rivers Flood Warning System feasibility study will contribute to informing the delivery of flood warnings for the community.

  • Bega Sports Complex Building Project

    A 'multi-use' approach to increases the sites ability to host a range of facilities for the community.

  • Bega Valley Regional Gallery upgrade

    The redevelopment and expansion of the Bega Valley Regional Gallery is to be at its current site.

  • Bega Valley Shire Resilience

    Enhancing the overall resilience of the Bega Valley Shire.

  • Bermagui Harbour Boat Ramp Upgrade

    To upgrade the boat ramp, pontoon and carparking area at Bermagui Harbour and to improve the overall use of the site.

    Proposed completion date: June 2023

    Budget: Total project funding: $880,162

    Funded by: Transport for NSW contribution: $660,122 via the NSW Boating Now Program; Bega Valley Shire Council contribution: $220,040



  • Bermagui River Boat Ramp Facilities

    Upgrade current boat ramp to include concrete double ramp, parking and lighting and install a pontoon jetty.

    Completed

    Proposed completion date: Works are scheduled for completion by mid-December in time for peak summer holiday period.

    Budget: $655,000

    Funded by: RMS via the NSW Boating Now Program; Bega Valley Shire Council



  • Berrambool Sportsground Floodlight Upgrade

    Upgrade the floodlights at Berrambool's AFLCricket oval to meet semi-professional lighting levels.

    Completed

    Funded by: NSW Government with contributions and support by Merimbula diggers AFL Club, AFL NSW/ACT and Bega Valley Shire Council.



  • Blackfellows Lake Boat Ramp Facilities

    Upgrade current informal ramp to include a concrete boat ramp, pontoon, lighting and formalised car park and access road. A State Government funded program to support and enhance the boating experience.

    Budget: approximately $1,019,000

    Funded by: TfNSW via the NSW Boating Now Program; Bega Valley Shire Council, LRCI and MEMS (LLS)



  • Brogo Water Treatment Plant Upgrade

    Upgrade of the Water Treatment Plant which services the Brogo-Bermagui network to improve water supply reliability and quality.

    Proposed completion date: Early 2023

    Budget: $10.7 million

    Funded by: Safe and Secure



  • Catchment Stabilisation & Estuarine Protection Project

    Reducing post fire impacts on our estuaries through sediment and erosioncontrols and stabilisation works.

    In progress

    Budget: $1,149 000 - NSW DPIE Coastal and Estuary Grants Program (Bushfire affected coastal waterways Program); $150,000 - Council has committed additional funds.

    Funded by: NSW DPIE Coastal and Estuary Grants Program (Busfire affected coastal waterways Program) and Council.



  • Cobargo Public Amenities

    Rebuilding of the Main Street public amenity and a new public amenity at the Apex Park in Cobargo.

    Funded by: Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications)



  • Cooler places in a warmer climate

    The project aims to create cool refuges in local community halls and increase the resilience of these facilities during power outages.

    Completed

    Budget: $110 000 from the IRCC and $35 000 Council contribution.

    Funded by: NSW Government, Increasing Resilience to Climate Change (IRCC) grant and Bega Valley Shire Council



  • Cuttagee Bridge renewal

    Cuttagee Bridge is nearing the end of its functional life and planning is underway to determine its future design and configuration.

  • Dune Enhancement Project

    This project aims to stabilise and protect dune systems to reduce current risks to natural and built assets as well as increase resilience to future threats from climate change driven sea level rise.

    Funded by: Bega Valley Shire Council ($40,000) and Office of Environment and Heritage Grant ($40,000)



  • Everyone Can Play Playspaces

    Funding has been provided by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment's Open Space and Parklands Program.

  • Flood and Sea Level Rise Policy and Planning

    Council is undertaking a project to implement the land use planning recommendations from various Floodplain Risk Management Studies and Plans and include the appropriate consideration of sea level rise datums into development assessments and land use

    Funded by: Funded by Bega Valley Shire Council through Council’s Environmental Levy.



  • Future waste management in the Bega Valley Shire

    How we are moving towards zero waste.

  • Green Shoots

    A project developed in response to the Tathra and Districts Bushfire of March2018 to restore natural areas that were destroyed or badly degraded by the fire.

    Completed

    Funded by: Crown Lands, Bega Valley Shire Council and South East Local Land Services.



  • Kalaru Village Upgrade

    Infrastructure upgrades in the Kalaru village including shared path construction, stormwater upgrade, concrete kerb and gutter, road pavement stabilisation and reseal.

    Completed

    Funded by: Australian Government Roads to Recovery and Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program; NSW Government Active Transport, Regional Road Repair Program, Block Grant and; Bega Valley Shire Council stormwater budget and Special Rate Variation.



  • Kiah Community Hall Rebuild Project

    Rebuilding Kiah Community Hall destroyed during the 2019-20 fires.

    In progress

    Proposed completion date: 2023

    Funded by: NSW Government's Bushfire Local Economic Recovery (BLER) Fund. Bega Valley Shire Council is contributing to the overall budget.



  • Lake Curalo riparian restoration

    Lake Curalo riparian restoration habitat action grant.

    In progress

    Proposed completion date: August 2024

    Budget: $18,900

    Funded by: Funded by the Department of Primary Industries, Recreational Fishing Trusts



  • Lawrence Park Sportsground Improvements

    Upgrade of park to include, play equipment, floodlighting, carpark and linkpathways to viewing areas and pavilion.

    Completed

    Funded by: NSW Government under the Stronger Country Communities Fund, Round 2. Bega Valley Shire Council are also contributing to the overall budget.



  • Merimbula Airport General Aviation Precinct

    This project is the first stage in providing infrastructure for private and commercial tenancies.

    Completed

    Funded by: NSW Government is contributing $4 million, with Council contributing a further $620,000.



  • Merimbula Airport Infrastructure Works

    Council has formally adopted an Airport Master Plan that includes the extension and upgrades of the Merimbula Airport runway and creation of a General Aviation Precinct to the Southern end of the airport.

  • Merimbula Boardwalk and Foreshore Path upgrade

    The upgrade of the Merimbula boardwalk and foreshore path with infrastructure to provide nature-based experiences, new viewing platforms, improved accessibility, and interpretative signage. The project will support and complement the existing touris

  • Merimbula Lake and Back Lake Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan

    This study and plan is being undertaken to assess options to manage the flood risk in these areas.

    Completed

    Proposed completion date: February 2021

    Funded by: NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment supported Council by providing technical assistance and grant funding for the project.



  • Merimbula Lake Entrance Sediment Study

    The Merimbula Lake Entrance Sediment Study will provide an analysis of sediment dynamics and drivers at Merimbula Lake entrance bar.

    Proposed completion date: December 2022 - January 2023

    Funded by: Transport for NSW (TfNSW) Boating Access Dredging Program and a contribution from Bega Valley Shire Council.



  • Merimbula Transport Study

    Council is developing the Merimbula Transport Study to better plan for transport infrastructure prioritisation and implementation. This Transport Study will inform a place-based plan for Merimbula that considers all modes of transport.

  • Pambula Lake (Broadwater) Boat Ramp Upgrade

    To upgrade the boat ramp, pontoon and carparking area at Pambula Lake (Broadwater) and improve the overall use of the site.

    Funded by: Transport for NSW (TfNSW) contribution: $811,712.63 via the NSW Boating Now Program; Bega Valley Shire Council contribution: $239,884.77



  • Pambula Sporting Complex Master Plan

    Development of a new multi-use pavilion creating a regional sporting hub to service the south coast and surrounding areas.

    Funded by: Jointly funded by NSW Government (Office of Sports) and Bega Valley Shire Council.



  • Quarantine Bay Pontoon

    Upgrade current pontoon to include an extension to the finger pontoon jetty and the upgrade of the original timber jetty as a recreational fishing platform not for mooring.

    Budget: Total project funding = Pontoon $395,000; Jetty Upgrade $153,000

    Funded by: Pontoon: TFNSW contribution = $330,000 and BVSC contribution = $65,000; Jetty Upgrade: $153,000 Recreational Fishing Trust DIP



  • Sealing of West Kameruka Road

    The aim of the Project is to seal 7kms on West Kameruka Road.

    Budget: $3.5 million

    Funded by: NSW Government for the 2017-18 Fixing Country Roads & Bridges Construction Stream.



  • Semi-Automated Waste Disposal System (SAWDS) - Cobargo

    The project will innovate the previous transfer station by using technology for waste collection and more of a self-service approach.

  • Special Rate Variation

    Council is considering a permanent Special Rate Variation from 1 July 2023 to continue our existing levels of service and maintain our existing assets.

  • Tathra to Kalaru Bike Track

    The Tathra to Kalaru Bike Track represents the first stage in creating a cycling network between Bega and Tathra.

    Funded by: NSW Government



  • Tathra Wharf and Headland Precinct Plan

    The development of the Tathra Wharf and Headland precinct plan to inform future upgrade works at Tathra Headland.

  • Tathra Wharf Restoration

    Restoration of the Tathra Wharf sub-structure, structure and building.

  • Wandella Community Hall Rebuild Project

    Rebuilding Wandella Community Hall destroyed during the 2019-20 fires.

    Proposed completion date: June 2023

    Funded by: NSW Government's, Bushfire Local Economic Recovery (BLER) Fund. Bega Valley Shire Council is also contributing to the overall budget.



  • Waste Strategy Development

    The project will review and update Council's adopted 'Recycling the Future' Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy 2018-2028, setting a new time horizon of 2025-2035.

  • Watergums Creek Bridge Upgrade

    The Watergums Creek Bridge upgrade will improve access and resilience for the Wonboyn community.
