Frequently asked questions

The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are here to help you through using the Bega Valley Waste app.

If you are still having problems after ready our FAQs please contact Council on 02 6499 2222.

APP stands for application which is downloaded to a mobile device. Bega Valley Shire Council has developed this waste management APP for our ratepayers to help make using our waste services more straightforward, and to give them better access to information about these services.

As part of the Council’s waste management strategy, we are continually looking at ways to reduce our impact on the environment. We have developed this APP to reduce the number of calendars we print each year, although we are still making the calendars available to people who want them.

Yes, the APP does replace the Bin Collection Calendar although we will still print some calendars which ratepayers are welcome to collect from our Bega office. Additionally, you can request the calendar be mailed to you by simply calling Council on 6499 2222 or via a simple online ordering system via our website www.begavalley.nsw.gov.au

The APP gives you access to up to the minute, quality information about bin collection as well as other waste services that are available such as tip opening times and household chemical collection dates. It also has lots of other great features including personal reminders the night before your bin is collected so you don’t forget to put the bins out.

Go to your APP store and type in Bega Valley in the search section. Bega Valley Waste APP should appear automatically among the list of available apps.

No, you do not need to pay. The Bega Valley Waste APP is FREE.

It might be that you only need to enter you town/suburb. If you still cannot access the calendar (see Q&A below) then please send your address information via the feedback form located in the ‘other services’ section of the app.

If you have your reminders set to “on” in your phone, the Bega Valley Waste App will send you a reminder at 6pm the evening before your bin goes out to remind you to put your bins out for collection the following day.

No, not at this stage.

If the truck breaks down we will notify you via your APP. You need to register for push notifications at the time of download for this to occur. The notification service will only be used when the truck breaks down and to remind you of Household Chemical Collection dates, so you should only receive a few notifications per year (in addition to your weekly bin reminders if you select that option).
