What is a Development Control Plan (DCP)?

The Development Control Plans supplement the Local Environmental Plan and provides more detailed provisions to guide development in the Bega Valley.

Under Section 79C of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, 1979, Council is required to take into consideration the relevant provisions of the Development Control Plan when determining an application for development.

A balanced approach to development is required and applications will need to demonstrate that not only have the individual objectives and controls of the Development Control Plan been met, but that the overall aims and objectives of the plan have been satisfied.

Employment zones commence within Bega Valley Local Environmental Plan 2013 on 26 April 2023. From 26 April 2023, in a document other than a state environmental planning policy) a reference to a former zone under an environmental planning instrument is taken to include a reference to a new zone under the environmental planning instrument.

Note: Document means an Act, statutory or other instrument, contract or agreement, and includes a document issued or made under or for the purposes of an Act or statutory or other instrument.
