Project Summary/background

This project will deliver multiple upgrades for the Bermagui Indoor Sports Stadium. It involves repairing the roof, windows, and basketball backboard, kitchen, canteen, changerooms, and toilets, and resealing the stadium floor. The upgraded stadium will provide a space for all members of the Bermagui community to exercise and connect - building a stronger community.

Project Overview

This project will provide a safe and accessible multi-use indoor sports stadium where basketball, wheelchair basketball, netball, badminton, karate, and other local activities can take place. This will be achieved by replacing the existing decayed basketball backboard and stands with a professional mobile compliant system so that basketball and wheelchair basketball can be played once again.

To ensure the facility is accessible, the toilet amenities will be retrofitted to meet disability access requirements and standards plus a single disabled compliant platform lift will be fit to the front entry of the stadium.

To ensure the building is safe, the windows will be replaced to eliminate debris and dirt entering the stadium which has been a major cause of slips and falls. The damaged floor will be sanded and resealed.

To ensure the hygiene and longevity of the building, the kitchen will be upgraded to meet commercial grade standards. The roof will be repaired to eliminate the source of water leaks to the toilet storage and kitchen areas.

Completion of the project will see more sports and activities being conducted at the facility, giving the bushfire impacted community of Bermagui more opportunities to connect in a positive way moving forward.
