Bega Valley Shire Council is offering grants of up to $500 for community groups interested in running events as part of the 2016 NSW Seniors Festival.
The Festival, formerly known as NSW Seniors Week, runs from Friday 1 April to Sunday 10 of April 2016.
Community Development Coordinator, Anne Cleverley said the grants can be used to organise events and activities which thank, recognise and celebrate seniors for the role they play and the positive contributions they make in the community.
“There are so many ways that communities can celebrate the active lives and valuable contributions of our seniors in their community,” she said.
“We’re encouraging people to plan activities in their communities which promote health, wellbeing and happiness for seniors. New ideas are always welcome,” Ms Cleverley said.
Council’s Seniors Festival grants are designed to help groups cover some of the costs associated with organising activities. Council will also support groups with publicity and promotion as part of a Shire-wide calendar of Events.
Application guidelines and forms are available from Council’s website www.begavalley.nsw.gov.au
Applications must be received by 5pm on Friday 8 January, 2016.
