Works starting soon for new skatepark in Merimbula

Bega Valley Shire Council advises construction works are scheduled for the new Merimbula Skatepark.

11 July 2025

Bega Valley Shire Council advises construction works are scheduled for the new Merimbula Skatepark.

This project will replace the existing aging skatepark at Berrambool with a new modern skatepark at Ford Park, linking in with other nearby recreation facilities.

Local contractors will establish the work site on Monday 21 July with works expected to be completed by September, weather permitting.

Construction will include earthworks and site preparation, construction of the skatepark and connecting paths.

Access to the beach, Markets and playground will be maintained, and the existing carparking will not be impacted. Safety fencing, signs and traffic management will be in place.

The Sapphire Coast Skatepark Association has collaborated with the skatepark designers, Baseplate, on the skatepark design.

The new skatepark focuses on beginner and intermediate skill levels with some advanced elements.

It has been designed to work with existing facilities and users, has clear and open entry points and broadens the type of skate terrain in skateparks in the shire.

Council thanks the community for their patience while these works are undertaken.

This project is funded by the Australian Government’s Investing in Our Communities Program.
