Citizen of the Year nominations open

Citizen of the year awards.6 November 2017

Nominations are now open for the 2018 Citizen, Young Citizen (under 25) and Senior Citizen (over 65) of the Year awards and Bega Valley Shire Council is calling on the community to recognise the efforts of friends, neighbours, colleagues and family.

Bega Valley Shire Council Mayor, Kristy McBain, said the annual awards are a great opportunity to recognise the outstanding people we have in our Shire and their achievements.

“It’s certainly a highlight of my year to present these special awards on Australia Day and recognise the outstanding achievers and community champions for their hard work and determination in enriching the social fabric of the Shire,” Cr McBain said.

“The awards are a great way to honour those who work hard to make our community a better place; those that quietly and selflessly help others.”

Nominations should include information about a person’s service to the community and/or a distinguished performance over the past 12 months.

The 2017 Citizen of the Year was Ricky Holt; Kezie Apps was named Young Citizen of the Year; and Dawn Hollins received the Senior Citizen of the Year award.

To nominate someone visit, email or deliver nominations to any Council office by 21 November 2017.
