New pool covers have been installed at Eden Swimming Pool.
This community project was initiated and coordinated by the Eden Swimming Club, who along with the wider Eden community, fundraised to purchase the new pool covers.
Council was happy to help out by purchasing the mechanical winch needed for staff to operate the covers and assisted with some additional funding to finalise the project.
Council’s Aquatic and Leisure Facilities Coordinator, Nicholas Hoynes, said this is a terrific example of the community and Council collaborating for everyone’s benefit.
“The hope is that the covers will enable us to achieve more consistent water temperatures for swimmers over the season, with staff to monitor daily water and air temperatures to track the benefits of the covers,” Mr Hoynes said.
“Special thanks must go to the Eden Swimming Club and Eden community, as without their hard work and dedication to their pool we would not have been able to complete this project.”
There might be some minor delays in opening the pool while staff get comfortable with the new system.
