Contaminated Land Policy

Bega Valley Shire Council has an obligation to manage contaminated land in accordance with legislative requirements in NSW.  This draft Contaminated Land Policy aims to provide a framework for Council to appropriately manage land contamination through the land use planning process. It will also guide Council’s due diligence disclosure of information on contamination via section 10.7 planning certificates.

The policy sets out how Council will:

  • identify, evaluate and manage contaminated land through the land use planning process;
  • record, manage and disclose contaminated land information;
  • report contamination to the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA); and
  • prevent or minimise the potential for land contamination.

This policy applies to all land within the Bega Valley Shire.
