After a successful exhibition, CONCRETE : Art Design Architecture, the Bega Valley Regional Gallery has temporarily closed its doors to audit the Gallery’s artworks collection, and focus on the launch of the MOTEL ART FAIR in July and ART MONTH Sapphire Coast during the month of August.

“We have a busy time ahead of us, as the Gallery has been the recipient of a significant number of gifts over the past few years, increasing our total number of artworks to 354,” Mr Dawson said.

“The value of the donated works over the past five years is more than $1 million. Once audited, the works will be moved to a dedicated storage area.”

The Gallery’s launch of the new MOTEL ART FAIR at the Norfolk Pine Motel, Merimbula, at the end of July will showcase some of the region’s most accomplished visual artists.

“Presented in a unique and exciting new format, mini-galleries of each artist’s artworks will be on display in a motel room and all artworks will be available to purchase at the event,” Mr Dawson said.

“This curated art event includes works from landscape photographers, illustrators, ceramicists, painters, jewellers and more.

“If you fall in love with a piece, you will be able to buy it and take it home with you, or it might be a special gift for a loved one.”

In August, the Gallery will continue to deliver its active artistic and education program, with the launch of ART MONTH Sapphire Coast.

“The program for ART MONTH will be unveiled on Wednesday 30 June and boasts more than 65 events across a huge range of art forms including live music, open studio trails, classes, workshops and exhibitions,” Mr Dawson said.

“The Gallery team are focussing on developing a new strategic plan for the next decade, delivering artistic programs at the two pop up galleries, BVRG:TARMAC and BVRG:PORT and sourcing new streams of public and private funding.

“We are excited about the Gallery’s future and the opportunity to continue to deliver a strong artistic program that cements the importance of the facility as a cultural tourism driver and key cultural facility for south east NSW.”
