Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants

About the grant program

The $280 million Black Summer Bushfire Recovery (BSBR) Grants program will help communities address priorities for recovery and resilience after the 2019-20 bushfires. This grants program comes from the National Bushfire Recovery Fund and is additional to support already provided through a range of bushfire recovery programs.

Applications open 22 July 2021 and close 6 October 2021.

Requesting a letter of support from Council

If you would like to request a letter of support from Council, you will need to:


Please provide as much relevant information as possible. If you are unable to provide Council with sufficient information and/or time to make a determination your request will not be processed.

If your project includes building infrastructure on public land (that is, on land that is not privately owned), you will need to include details of the proposed site and request information on site suitability in the "Request for Council Advice" section in the form.

Council will review all requests for letters of support to ensure each project aligns with our Operational Plan 2021-2022 and can be supported by Council into the future.

Key dates

Council will process requests as they are received, so please submit your request as early as possible.

  • 5pm, Thursday 30 September 2021 - All requests for letters of support from Council must be received. Late applications may run the risk of not being processed. 
  • Tuesday 5 October 2021 - All requests will be responded to by this date.
