Kiah Green Shoots

Greenshoots is an umbrella program for environmental restoration works in partnership with local communities.

The program focuses on revegetating chosen localities for the benefit of the environment, ecosystem, water catchment and the community’s recovery following the bushfires. Quaama and Kiah areas are the initial focus for Greenshoots 2021 due to their environmental significance as key catchment areas.

The core of the program is to bring the community together to identify environmentally significant areas that can be focussed on now and into the future, learn more about their local environment and be actively involved in their local environments’ recovery and restoration.

Through the program, community members will have the opportunity to:

  1. Have a say in where and how the regreening efforts will be focused through a community planning drop in session or a Have your say survey.
  2. Learn more about their local environment though an education session and biodiversity survey with local experts. The topic of this session will be discussed at the planning session.
  3. Be actively involved with local environment regeneration and be supported to regenerate their catchment area through a community planting day.
