Senior of the Year Award

Bega Valley Shire Council annually recognises the contribution of one of the Shire’s senior residents, Senior of the Year is part of NSW Seniors Festival.  The award recognises the contribution of an outstanding older person and their services to the community. The award will be presented on Australia Day (26 January) each year at the Shire’s Official Australia Day Ceremony.


What is Senior of the Year?

Being nominated for the Senior of the Year Awards is a great honour. This is your opportunity to recognise and reward someone who inspires you.

A Senior is defined as being aged 60 or over.

Who can nominate?

Any Australian citizen can nominate.

How to nominate?

Anyone can nominate someone they admire for Senior of the Year Award. Your nominee may be a friend, family member, work colleague or even someone famous – in fact any senior you believe deserves recognition.

  • Add supporting material which can include references, biographies, newspaper articles etc.
