Bega Valley Shire Council has closed access to the Tathra and Merimbula wharves due to the dangerous surf forecast for this weekend.
The closure is based on advice from the Bureau of Metrology (BOM) and Surf Lifesaving NSW.
Damaging surf with wave heights of 5-7 meters have been predicated, making coastal water activities potentially dangerous.
It is anticipated that wharves will be closed all weekend with Council to reassess the situation on Monday June 6.
Barricades will be in place to restrict access.
Council advises residents and visitors to monitor BOM warnings and take care whilst this forecast remains current.
Please note this closure doesn’t affect businesses located at the wharves.
