Book Clubs

Join a local Book Club

  • Bega – U3A (University of the Third Age) Book Discussion Group.
    The group meets at Betty's home in Merimbula on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 2pm to 4pm.
    A nominal membership fee is required.

  • Bemboka Book Club
    Meet once a month on a Sunday at 3 pm at Paula's home, please bring a plate.
    All Welcome. We take it in turns to choose reading material and there are approximately 10 current members.

  • Candelo Books
    3rd Thursday Book Club.
    All welcome, not necessary to attend on a regular basis.
    Contact staff at Candelo Books re upcoming titles on 6492 3386.
    Books don't have to be purchased from Candelo Books, but will be available to buy if you so wish
  • Eden Book Club
    Hot cuppa, good book, like-minded company, great conversation - Sounds like fun!!
    Interested parties, either male or female, who would like to be involved in discussing the formation of such a club are encouraged to phone Lindy and/or place their name on the register on the front desk at the Eden Library.

  • Merimbula
    A small informal Book Club meets monthly in a Merimbula coffee shop.
    The group has been going for 6 months and has an age group of 30s to 60s, male or female, there are five regulars currently.
    The books are recommended by the local bookshop and the material is chosen by the group.

  • Pambula - The Friendship Bookclub with Mary Whitby (U3A members only)
    We read one fixed novel per month with a book of our own choice every fourth month Each person's short written review is always a trigger for discussion, resulting in an enjoyable afternoon. Waiting list available.

Time: 1.30 pm
Date: 3rd Friday of each month
Venue: Mary Whitby’s home, 3 Brunker Street, Pambula
Cost: $5 per month for books, postage & afternoon Tea.

  • Tathra Book Club
    Every three weeks on a Saturday (3rd week of the month), for a book discussion over lunch.
    There is no set genre.

Start a Book Club

The CAE - Centre of Adult Education can help you start up a Book Club. The CAE will send you catalogue of books for the club to choose from. The books are sent once a month on loan. The CAE require the group to meet on a regular basis and club must meet the membership requirements and there is also a small fee involved. For more information go to the CAE website.
