The Library Portal Opens

Tuesday 20 October 2015

As part of the transition towards the new library in Tura Beach, the Library Portal will open in Merimbula on Friday 23 October.

The Library Portal offers a selection of quality library services including access to the library catalogue and an ability to reserve and pick up library items.

The Library Portal will be open three days a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9.30am – 5.00pm, and will operate from the Council’s newly acquired Regional Learning Facility in Cabarita Place, Merimbula.

Manager of Community, Culture and Information Simon Schweitzer said the Council is committed to delivering quality library services across the Shire.

“Libraries are vital to the community, creating a centrepiece for community hubs by providing essential services and facilities,” Mr Schweitzer said.

“The Library Portal allows us to continue to offer services during the construction of the new library in Tura Beach.

“In addition to the reservation and pick up service, visitors to the Library Portal will be able to access newspapers and magazines, an area for reading and studying, and a space for kids.

“Free WiFi and public access computers will be available shortly.

“A formal launch of the Library Portal will be held on Friday 30 October, however library users are welcome to start using the space on Friday,” he said.
