Free creative expo for our older residents during Seniors' Week

Bega Valley seniors are in for a creative treat during Seniors’ Week (10-24 April) with Never Too Late to Make It!, a get active free expo at the Bega Valley Commemorative Civic Centre.
Council’s Library Officer, Myoung Jae Yi said this is an event not to be missed.
“We want the shire’s seniors to lock Saturday 10 April, 10am to 3pm, into their calendars because they are not going to want to miss the demonstrations and displays we have prepared,” Mr Jae Yi said.
“We’ll have demonstrations of weaving, woodwork, craft, archery, pottery and gardening. There will be orchid displays, writing workshops, people talking about history and a free sausage sizzle.
“We hope our expo will expose the huge range of creative activities that older residents can enjoy. Participants can ask questions and share their own creative passions.”
Mr Jae Yi said Bega Valley Shire libraries host a number of creative groups who meet regularly to share skills and experience, and socialise.
“Tura Marrang Quilters is an inspiring example,” he said. “This group came together when the Tura Marrang Library and Community Centre opened in July 2016 and have met fortnightly ever since, coming from as far as Cobargo and Eden.”
Council’s Library Services Coordinator, Megan Jordan-Jones said our libraries offer many services to support seniors and their interests.
“We have large print books, audio books, eBooks and eMagazines,” Ms Jordan-Jones said.
“We run regular free technology training courses for seniors and our Library Link Service provides resources to homebound residents. We also provide free access to, and guidance with, family history resources, such as Ancestry Library Edition.”

Other Seniors Week events funded through Council’s Seniors Festival Grants will be hosted by Bega Valley Potters, the Lions Club of Pambula-Merimbula, Twofold Aboriginal Corporation, Far South Film, Eden Community Access Centre, Bermagui and District Seniors, and Panboola Wetlands.
