Council is pleased to open consultation on the Towards 2042 project, which will shape the future of our community.
1 February 2024
Bega Valley Shire Council is pleased to open consultation on the Towards 2042 project, which will shape the future of our community.
Mayor Russell Fitzpatrick said Council will be guided by the community through important discussions on key aspirations and priorities for our local government area for the next 20 years and document these in a Community Strategic Plan.
“Every local government area in NSW will work with their community to develop a Community Strategic Plan,” Cr Fitzpatrick said. “When planning for our community, it makes sense the vision originates from a sound understanding of the long-term expectations and priorities.
“This is a great opportunity to share your ideas and influence our future. It’s your chance to envisage what you, your friends, family and the wider community will need to grow and thrive Towards 2042.”
The Towards 2042 community consultation will commence with a range of activities across Bega Valley and includes a survey that can be completed online on Council’s website.
“We all have aspirations for a better future. I encourage everyone to get involved during February and March to have their say,” Cr Fitzpatrick said.
“Towards 2042 allows us to consider what we love about where we live, what we’d like our future to look like and who we need to partner with to get there. Together, we can document a future vision that respects our unique local area and lifestyle.”
To be involved, the Towards 2042 survey asks some key questions to review our current Community Strategic Plan and makes sure it is an accurate representation of our future.
Council has a custodial role in initiating and preparing the Community Strategic Plan, but it is a community plan. Many partners, such as state agencies and community groups will be responsible for its implementation.
Towards 2042 consultation begins today and closes on Friday 15 March.
Towards 2042 is led by the Canberra Regional Joint Organisation with the following councils participating: Bega Valley Shire Council, Eurobodalla Shire Council, Goulburn Mulwaree Council, Hilltops Council, Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council, Snowy Monaro Regional Council, Snowy Valleys Council, Upper Lachlan Shire Council, Wingecarribee Shire Council and Yass Valley Council.
