  • Are you a 17-26-year-old who lives in the Bega Valley? 
  • Are you studying at University, TAFE or with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO)?
  • Could you use some help paying for equipment, books, travel or other study related expenses? 

 

Background

Further Education Scholarships are on offer for students aged between 17 and 26 years old, of up to $1000 each. 

The Further Education Scholarships provide an opportunity to recognise and assist students living in the Bega Valley Shire who are undertaking further education.

The scholarships aim to support the development of skills and abilities of students experiencing barriers to higher education in the Bega Valley.

In 2022-23 this grant is offered in partnership with the Mumbulla Community Foundation

Overall grant program objectives

The scholarships aim to:

  • Support the development of skills and abilities of students experiencing barriers to higher education in the Bega Valley
  • Encourage more young people living in the Bega Valley Shire to pursue further education 
  • Raise the profile of young students
  • Promote further education options within the Bega Valley Shire
  • Retain students within the Bega Valley

Grant specific criteria/information

To be eligible for a scholarship, the applicants must:

  • Live in the Bega Valley Shire
  • Be enrolled full time or part-time, including online study, with a University, TAFE or Registered Training Organisation (RTO) 
  • Be aged between 17 and 26 years old (excluding high school students)
  • Not be in receipt of any other scholarship
  • Identify how the grant funding will be of use, for example for equipment, books, travel or other study related expenses 
  • Describe key motivating factors and/or goals for undertaking study
  • Identify how the scholarship will break down financial or other barriers to achieving educational goals.
