Community Visitors' Scheme (CVS)
The Community Visitors' Scheme (CVS) is an Australian government funded program established to reduce social isolation and lonlieness in the elderly by matching volunteers with people receiving a Home Care packagein their own home ore living in an aged care facility.
The CVS aims to enrich the quality of life of elderly people who may be socially isolated or lonely. The local CVS Sapphire Co-ordinator matches each potential recipient with a suitable community visitor, taking into account such things as shared interests, hobbies, and similarity of background, or a shared language. Visitors commit to regular friendly visits, helping to etablish and maintain links between older people and their community.
Eligibility Criteria
Volunteers will need to complete an Application, short interview and police background check before matching with an aged care resident. Training and support are ongoing.
