Bega Valley Shire Council is seeking feedback from the community to inform the development of a shire-wide Active Transport Strategy.
Bega Valley Shire Council is seeking feedback from the community to inform the development of a shire-wide Active Transport Strategy.
The strategy will provide Council with a roadmap for active transport infrastructure for the next 10 years, encompassing all modes of active transport including walking, cycling and micro-mobility.
Council’s Acting Assets and Operations Director, Gary Louie, said the draft strategy outlines what we want our walking, cycling and micro-mobility infrastructure vision to look like and informs where to prioritise investment over the next decade, based on a number of core focus areas.
“The final strategy will plan for improvements to the active transport network as funds become available, supporting and promoting healthy, safe, fun, and practical choices for transport and recreation,” Mr Louie said.
“This will involve establishing a range of infrastructure such as footpaths, cycle paths, crossing facilities, signage, path markings and safe bicycle parking.
“Stakeholders are urged to get involved and contribute feedback, whether it be completing the survey or attending one of the pop-up workshops in November.
“The survey takes only 5 to 15 minutes to complete and each response will be read and carefully considered by the project team.
“In the survey, participants will also have the opportunity to provide feedback on specific areas of the Shire they feel require attention, by using an interactive map.
Council has engaged PSA Consulting to facilitate the study.
