Civil landscaping works around the new Murrabrine Bridge in Cobargo are nearing completion and the community is invited to inspect the works achieved to date.

A community walkthrough is planned where project staff will discuss completed civil works and an upcoming community-led planting program.

Project Manager, Andrew Stewart said the restoration of riverbank vegetation is another step towards recovery following the Black Summer bushfires.

“The project team has developed a landscape and rehabilitation plan to meet environmental requirements including rectification of recent fire impacts,” Mr Stewart said.

“Our environment team has specified a total of 14 local native species to be used in the landscaping of the riverbank and area surrounding the bridge.

“The contractor has built a path to enable pedestrian access to this southern Cobargo gateway, and many of the native trees that were planted previously in the area have been retained.

“Come for a walk with project staff who will explain the work done to date and what’s to follow as the upgrade of Murrabrine Bridge approaches completion.”

The walkthrough of the landscaped areas will start at 2pm on Wednesday 10 August.

Meet project staff at the RFS building on Wandella Road, adjacent to Murrabrine Bridge—please park on Wandella Road and not in the RFS carpark or yard.
