Quarantine Bay Pontoon

The following scope of works will be delivered at the site:

  • Renewal and extension of the finger pontoon jetty
  • Assessment of existing timber jetty for ongoing use as a recreational platform
  • Works to be designed and constructed within environmental and heritage regulations

The overarching purpose of this project is to improve the standard of this recreational boating facility, utilised by locals and visitors alike. The current pontoon and jetty are ageing and not meeting user expectations or peak period capacity demands.

Council’s Maritime Infrastructure Plan (February 2014) identified installation of additional pods to the pontoon to increase capacity in the medium/long term scope of work..

Total project funding = $215,000

  • RMS contribution = $155,000 via the NSW Boating Now Program
  • BVSC contribution = $60,000

Feedback from the Eden area in response to the “Understanding Our Place” community engagement process, which subsequently informed the Community Strategic Plan (CSP), included “improved recreation facilities and spaces”. This feedback links to CSP Outcome 1 Active and Healthy Communities; specifically the second goal of this outcome of “access to good quality recreation and sporting facilities”.
