Whether your book club meets in person or online, Bega Valley Shire Library’s new Book Club Sets will make it effortless for you to source multiple copies of the same title and to borrow them all in one easy transaction.

Systems and Collections Librarian, Suzannah van den Haak says that Book Club Sets contain everything your book club or reading group needs for a great discussion in one handy container.

“Each set includes six to 10 copies of the same book as well as printed discussion notes and links to related websites. The sets are free to borrow for six weeks with library membership.

“We’ve even included the headline novel for 2020, The Yield by Tara June Winch, as a Book Club Set.

“This book has won multiple awards this year. It’s the book everyone wants to read and it’s heavily reserved – your book club can borrow the Book Club Set and read it now.”

Some other titles available include Tim Winton’s The Shepherd’s Hut, the much-loved Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom and There Was Still Love by Favel Parrett, which was the One Book One Community novel for 2019.

“These are all wonderful reads for book clubs; well-written and thought-provoking, with a number of themes to stimulate discussions and challenge assumptions,” Ms van den Haak said.

Book clubs are a great way for people to stay in touch and share their thoughts about what they’re reading as well as life experiences.

However, it can be difficult to buy or get hold of multiple copies of the same title for everyone at once.

“The focus on providing Book Club Sets is to support local book clubs and connections within our communities,” Ms van den Haak said.

“We aim to expand our Book Club Sets with a range of genres according to demand and we’d love to hear from local book clubs and reading groups interested in using this service.”

Contact Ms van den Haak on 6499 2366 to borrow a Book Club Set or to find out more.
