Reconnecting Regional Community Events Program

NSW Government's Reconnecting Regional NSW Community Events Program

An exciting range of locally-run events are set to receive a $362,000 funding boost thanks to the NSW Government’s Reconnecting Regional NSW Community Events Program.

The aim of the funding is to support communities and businesses to host events that will rebuild community cohesion, deliver positive social outcomes and support local businesses in the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Funding was available for both new and existing events, which could include non-profit markets, festivals and fairs, sporting events, food and leisure events, recovery events, community classes and workshops, regional racing carnivals, touring events and theatre programs, and public holiday celebrations such as Australia Day or Anzac Day.

The funding was awarded to events based in the Bega Valley Shire with a benefit to the broader community. Funded events must be:

  • Open to all members of the public
  • Free to attend or a very small fee to cover any extra costs
  • Planned and delivered using the COVID-19 NSW Public Health Orders current at that time and have a COVID-19 Safety Plan in place for all events (the development of these plans is an eligible expense)
  • Held before 31 March 2023, and
  • Have a primary purpose of reconnecting communities and improving social cohesion of the local community
