Proposed special rate variation

Council is considering an increase in rates through a Special Rate Variation (SRV) to meet rising costs associated with the delivery of services and the maintenance and renewal of our valued community assets.

You may have heard recently that Council is considering an increase in rates through a Special Rate Variation (SRV).

This is to meet rising costs associated with the delivery of services and the maintenance and renewal of our valued community assets.

If Council decides to take this approach, there are multiple steps required. This includes applying to the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART), and seeking your feedback on the options being considered.

If an SRV does get introduced, it would not start until 1 July 2023 and importantly, it would only apply to general rates.

We will be connecting with the community later this year to discuss our options moving forward.
