Bega Valley Shire Council is renewing a call for residents living close to the Central Waste Facility (CWF) near Wolumla to consider joining its Consultative Committee.
Three positions are available for community members who want to play an active role in providing feedback and insights on the operations of the facility.
To be eligible, applicants must reside within five kilometres (as the crow flies) of the CWF, ensuring those most directly impacted by its operations have a voice.
The new committee will meet up to six times over the next two years, adding two extra sessions to Council’s previous commitment of four meetings.
As before, the committee provides an important forum for community input. The committee’s advice will help to guide future operational and strategic decisions for Council’s only landfill site.
Current and past members are encouraged to apply, as the previous call for interest did not receive enough responses.
The committee is chaired by Council’s Waste Services Manager and includes the Mayor or a delegated Councillor alongside the three community members.
Expressions of interest will be accepted until Tuesday 29 April. For more information on how to apply, visit Council’s Have Your Say webpage.
For further enquiries, please contact Council’s Waste Services team on (02) 6499 2222.
All media enquiries and interview requests are coordinated by Council's Communication and Engagement team under the adopted Communications Policy. To view this policy, visit Public Policies and search 'communications'.
To submit a media enquiry or to request an interview:
Councillors can be contacted directly for enquiries regarding decisions of the elected Council and non-operational matters. Interviews with the Mayor should be arranged through the Communication and Engagement team contact details above.
If you’re a journalist or media organisation that would like to receive media releases and notifications about media opportunities, please email your name, title and contact details to media@begavalley.nsw.gov.au and we will add you to our distribution list.
