Draft delegations policy

Council resolved to place its draft policy 6.28 delegations on public exhibition for a period of 28-days.

Council is required to review its delegations within the first 12-months of a local government election. Council’s current delegations are presented in two parts: the first in a register for the Mayor, CEO and Committees. The second in a register of sub-delegations from the CEO to other Council officers.
As part of its review, a new delegation framework is being proposed that consists of a delegation policy, procedure, delegation manual, register and instrument of delegation.
Implementation of the proposed framework will ensure compliance with Section 380 of the Local Government Act 1993, improve management of delegations, and contribute to transparent decision-making and accountability across the organisation. It will also contribute to more efficient an effective services for the community by informing Council officers of their roles and responsibilities.

At its meeting on 19 March 2025, Council resolved to place draft policy 6.28 delegations on public exhibition for a period of 28 days. Members of the community are invited to make submissions on the draft policy during that period. Council will accept submissions on the draft policy for a total period of 42 days.

A copy of the draft policy can be downloaded from Council’s website or can be viewed in hard copy at any library branch, as well as the front counter of the Zingel Place Office in Bega.
