Bega Valley Shire Council is calling for expressions of interest (EOI) from mobile food vendors to operate in prime locations across the shire’s well used reserves.

With the busy holiday season ahead, this initiative aims to bring food and coffee to some of the shire's popular and scenic outdoor spots, enhancing the experience for locals and visitors alike.

Council’s Property and Legal Manager, Rickee Marshall said a range of locations have been carefully selected for their accessibility, amenities and proximity to popular destinations.

“These reserves offer an ideal setting for food vans to cater to the high demand expected during the peak summer trading period,” Ms Marshall said.

“The EOI process will streamline approvals, providing opportunities for commercial vendors to make the most of trading in some of the shire’s favourite spots.

“This comes after our extensive review of more than 100 locations to identify the best sites for mobile food and drink vending.”

Sites include:

  • Kianinny Bay, Tathra
  • Jim Preo Reserve, Mogareeka
  • Merimbula Boat Ramp
  • Lions Beach, Pambula
  • Quarantine Bay, Eden
  • Cocora Beach, Eden
  • Bermagui Point, and more.

"We want to ensure food and beverage services are available at the right places, offering a service for the community and good business outcomes for the operators,” Ms Marshall said.

"By progressing the EOI process now, we aim to have everything in place by mid-December, so people can enjoy food and coffee while taking in the beauty of our shire."

Interested vendors are invited to submit their applications specifying which of the designated sites they would like to operate from.

Successful applicants will be granted temporary licences for the period from December 2024 through to June 2025, with the possibility of future renewals.

Council will assess applications based on criteria such as accessibility, safety and alignment with its Use of Public Land policy.

Applications are open now and will close on Thursday 7 November at 5pm. For more information and to make an application, visit the Have Your Say page on Council’s website.
