MEDIA RELEASE: Bega Valley Shire Council is encouraging anyone with the mildest of symptoms to follow the NSW Health advice and get tested to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

Mayor Russell Fitzpatrick said testing was an important part of managing the current outbreak and Council was keen to encourage everyone to do the right thing, including adhering to restrictions such as mask wearing indoors, physical distancing and checking in using QR codes.

“We all need to contribute to turning this situation around as quickly as possible,” Cr Fitzpatrick said.

“Please self-isolate, get tested and follow NSW Health advice if you feel unwell, even with the mildest of symptoms such as headache, fatigue, cough, sore throat or runny nose.”

Cr Fitzpatrick also emphasised the need for any visitors who have arrived in the area from a designated hotspot since 21 June to return home and to follow appropriate testing and self-isolation protocols.

“If you are from the Greater Sydney region, including the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour and arrived in the shire on or after Monday 21 June we urge you to return home by the most direct route as soon as possible”

“This is important so that we can continue to keep our community safe.”
