Bega Valley Shire Council is seeking community input about companion animal control areas across the shire.

If you own a dog or a cat, or if you frequent the shire's off-leash parks and beaches, now is your chance to share your thoughts and experiences. The review will focus on how Council manages services relating to cat and dog ownership within our community.

Council’s Manager of Certification and Compliance, Tony Payne highlights the importance of community feedback in this process.

“We encourage pet owners and all community members to complete the survey to help us gauge opinions on animal compliance and safety, as well as how current recreation areas such as off-leash areas are used,” Mr Payne said.

“This survey will also provide insight into which Ranger services related to pet ownership you find most beneficial and what your priorities are for the future.

“It takes about 10 minutes to complete and asks questions on a diverse range of topics such as owner responsibilities for cats and dogs and community education initiatives.”

Once all survey responses are reviewed, a report will be presented to Council for consideration.

To complete the survey and find out more regarding the Companion Animal Control Area review, including access to Council’s current policy, procedure and related legislation, visit the Have Your Say webpage.

The survey closes on Sunday 9 March 2025.
