Bega Valley Shire volunteers. The Bega Valley Medallion Award is presented to outstanding volunteers in the Bega Valley Shire.

The award recognises one of our greatest community strengths - people who are prepared to give up their own time for the benefit of others and the community as a whole.

Eligibility and Criteria

The Bega Valley Medallion Award requires that recipients have served within the shire for an extended period of time; preferably more than 10 years - and in a number of areas and/or organisations.

However, consideration is given to those volunteers whose commitment to one organisation or group is such they would not be able to give much time to other activities (for example being on call 24 hours a day, seven day a week).

Service can be in any field, including sports, community and charitable services, health, education, arts, environment or any other area that contributes to the advancement and well-being of a community.

Nominations are called each year but can be submitted at any time and held until they are considered by the Council’s Awards Committee.

Presentation

The medallions will be presented at the community Australia Day event on 26 January.
