Bega Valley Shire Council to collaborate with other Councils

Friday 2 October 2015

The Bega Valley Shire Council has approved the framework for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Eurobodalla Council to strengthen collaboration and cooperation.

Bega Valley Shire Council have considered and resolved to enter into discussions and Eurobodalla Council will be meeting on 27 October 2015, with both councils reporting back in December with a draft proposal.

The Bega Valley Shire Council is no longer part of a regional group of Councils and this MOU will provide collaboration across Councils.

Mayor Michael Britten has written to the Minister for Local Government to propose the Councils form a South East Joint Organisation Group with Eurobodalla and the three Snowy Mountains area Councils.

“The agreement will see our Councils building a dynamic relationship between population centres.

“Working together we can plan for a more sustainable future and deliver more enhanced and value for money services to the communities,” he said.
