Bega Valley Shire Council is moving ahead with opportunities that shine a light on the contribution volunteers make to their local communities.
Friday 3 February 2017
Bega Valley Shire Council is moving ahead with opportunities that shine a light on the contribution volunteers make to their local communities.
New Committee members are being sought for the Bega Valley Shire Community Service Medallion Committee.
This Committee assess nominations and makes recommendations to Council in regard to the Bega Valley Shire Community Service Medallion.
The Medallion has a long history of acknowledging and rewarding the outstanding work of volunteers who give up their own time for the benefit of others.
The first task of the new Committee will be to review nominations for the 2017 Medallion which will be awarded as part of Volunteers Week celebrations due to be held in May 2017.
To register your interest in being part of the new Committee head to Council’s website or call Tamara Whiting, Council's Events Coordinator on 02 6499 2222.
Also, now is the time to nominate people for the Medallion itself.
Do you know someone working tirelessly in their community who deserves recognition? Mayor Kristy McBain is encouraging nominations now.
“Please don’t assume that someone else will nominate the person you think of, we are more than happy to receive dual nominations,” Cr McBain said.
For more information on joining the Medallion Committee or to nominate someone for a Medallion, visit Council’s website or speak with Tamara Whiting.
Submission for both must be made before on Thursday, February 23 2107.
