Bega Valley Shire Mayor Michael Britten is encouraging residents to nominate individuals or groups for the NSW-ACT Regional Achievement and Community Awards.
“These awards recognise the efforts of individuals and groups dedicated to enhancing and highlighting community success,” he said.
“There is a range of award categories, most of which have relevance to our community.
“As an example there are awards for a Crown Reserve Trust Corporate Manager and a Crown Reserve Trust Community Manager.
“Last year we had a local winner in this category with the Bega Showground Trust taking the Crown Reserve Trust Community Manager award.
“A popular category is the Community of the Year award which can go to any group or organisation that has a strong connection with its community.
“There is also an Events and Tourism category which is well suited to community groups organising festivals and events that have a strong impact of local tourism.
“With other categories in Environment and Landcare; Events and Tourism; Agricultural Community Achiever and Employer Excellence and Community Service in Aged Care, there are plenty of opportunities for local groups and organisations to be recognised.
“Winners will receive either $2,500 cash or an advertising packing with Prime 7 and all nominees will receive a certificate of achievement.
“Let’s see some more local winners in this year’s awards,” Cr Britten said.
Nomination forms are available on the website, www.awardsaustralia.com and entries close on Thursday 13 August.
