Bega Valley Shire Mayor, Russell Fitzpatrick and Member for Bega, Dr Michael Holland, welcomed the community to an open day on Saturday 15 March to celebrate the new Pambula Sporting Complex multi-use pavilion being open for use.

The $4.94 million redevelopment, which received significant funding from both the NSW Government and Bega Valley Shire Council, has transformed the facility into a versatile space that caters to the needs of a wide range of community groups and sports teams.

Mayor Russell Fitzpatrick said the $3.29 million generously contributed by the NSW Government, underscores the importance of supporting local sports infrastructure.

“We are incredibly excited to open the doors of the new multi-use pavilion at the Pambula Sporting Complex,” Mayor Fitzpatrick said.

“This project represents a significant investment in our community’s future, providing high-quality facilities that will benefit local sporting groups and residents for years to come.”

The new facility features adaptable change rooms, umpire’s rooms and facilities, kiosks, adaptable social rooms, public toilets including two accessible toilets, accessible parking, pathway connections, covered verandas and viewing areas, service connections and secure storage areas.

“Local sports teams, user groups and community members are already preparing to make full use of the new facilities, and the pavilion's design ensures it can accommodate a wide range of activities, making it an invaluable asset to the community.

“We are incredibly grateful to the NSW Government Office of Sport for their funding and support, and we look forward to seeing the new pavilion serve as a hub for sports, recreation and community events with many years of use ahead.”

Quotes attributable to Minister for Sport, Steve Kamper:

“Local sport infrastructure plays a critical role in keeping communities healthy, active and connected and the new pavilion at Pambula Sporting Complex provides the facilities needed to support more members of the community to participate in sport.”

Quotes attributable to State Member for Bega, Dr Michael Holland MP:

“The Pambula Sports Complex Multi-Sport Pavilion Building will establish a regional sports hub for multiple sporting codes and community events. The facilities will cater not only for local competition and training, but also provide opportunities and facilities to host sport development pathways and regional coaching development for our community”.
