Bega Valley Shire Library is excited to announce guest speaker events this month in the Bega and Eden libraries with international bestselling author, Karen Viggers who will talk about her latest novel, Sidelines.

Council’s Customer Experience Librarian, Linda Albertson said Sidelines is a family drama about teen sport and parents living vicariously through their kids.

“Through adult and teen characters, this story delves into modern life, parenting and the ongoing conversation about socially acceptable behaviour on the sidelines of the sporting field,” Ms Albertson said.

“Karen Viggers is a podcaster, veterinarian and retired soccer mum.

“She is also the author of five bestselling novels, which include The Stranding (2008), The Lightkeeper’s Wife (2011), The Grass Castle (2014) and The Orchardist’s Daughter (2019).

“Viggers writes about aspects of life we can all relate to; country towns, pets and wildlife, forests and mountains, along with urban families and junior sport.

“She doesn’t shy away from challenging issues and relationships and we are thrilled she is coming to Bega and Eden libraries.

“The conversation will be lively and stimulating and we’ve no doubt Bega Valley residents will take the opportunity to support and enjoy these events.

“Adults and teens involved in any type of sport will find the talk particularly fascinating and entertaining.”
