Seniors throughout the Bega Valley Shire are preparing to celebrate Seniors Festival 2016, previously known as NSW Seniors Week, from 1 to 10 April.

This year’s theme is ‘Grow Young’ and there will be a record number of events held in the Shire, with Council funding 13 events organised by community organisations across the Shire.

A full list of events is available on Council’s website and the calendar of events posters which have been distributed around the Shire.

“There is a wide variety of activities on offer for seniors of all ages and abilities,” Council’s Community Development Coordinator, Anne Cleverly said.

“For example, seniors can take a guided walk through the wetlands of Panboola, get involved in a Seniors Week Debate: Youth vs Experience, or get together to enjoy the Young at Heart short film festival screenings which will be held across the Shire.

“This is a vibrant festival that highlights the contribution of seniors in our community, and promotes a healthy and active lifestyle for older community members,” Ms Anne Cleverley said.
