This month marks six months since the September 2024 elections, and it has been an exciting and rewarding journey so far. Serving as a Councillor is a significant responsibility, and balancing this role with full-time work and family life has been a challenge, but one that I am thoroughly enjoying. I am always thankful for the opportunity to contribute positively to our community, and I continue to be proud and honoured to represent and support our region.

One (of many!) highlights of my role so far has been participating in Council committees. I sit on the Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee, the Montreal Goldfields Committee, and on the Mumbulla Board and I am continually impressed by the dedication and hard work of volunteers, who are deeply committed to improving our community.

Better communication and transparency from  Council were key reasons I ran for office, and I’m pleased to see the introduction of the Councillor Connect initiative, aimed at enhancing communication. On a personal level, I’ve also committed to writing a regular monthly article for Eden Connects, our local newsletter, and I also join the team at 2SEA Community Radio every second Friday to chat about local news and updates. Moving forward, I plan to increase my presence on social media (follow me on Facebook and Instagram!) to share updates on Council Meeting agendas and outcomes, as well as other important community information. Recently, I shared details about the draft changes to the Use of Public Land Policy and encouraged public submissions.

I continue to get out and about in the shire, attending wonderful local events like the Eden View Club’s 33rd Birthday Celebration, Bob & Judi Hearn’s Farewell, the premier of My Black Dog by Fling Physical Theatre, and the International Women’s Day morning tea hosted by the Eden Library and CWA - to name a few. I’d love to attend your event and learn more about your organisation or business.

I’m excited to keep working with the community and will continue to share updates on key issues. Please feel free to get in touch with me at cmudaliar@begavalley.nsw.gov.au
