25 July 2022

Bega Valley Shire Council is seeking community feedback on 14 Council policies, in line with the requirements of the Local Government Act 1993.

CEO Anthony McMahon said a total of 62 Council policies are being reviewed in batches and then placed on public exhibition for 28 days.

“Council adopted the first batch of policies at its meeting last and agreed to the public exhibition of the fourth batch,” Mr McMahon said.

“Public exhibition of the third batch is on exhibition until 31 July and the fourth batch closes on 4 September, if people are interested in providing feedback.

“This process provides the opportunity to make sure Council policies provide clear information about what the community can expect in their interactions with Council and the way decisions are made.”

If submissions are received during the public exhibition period, they will be presented back to Council with staff recommendations before the final policy is adopted.

Submissions on these policies will be accepted from the community for 42 days.

Batch 4 policies on public exhibition are:

  • Live, Work, Invest
  • Asbestos Management
  • Procurement of Assets and Services
  • Information Technology
  • Access to Information
  • Interstate and Overseas Travel
  • Closed Circuit Television
  • Related Party Disclosures
  • Tourism (proposed to be revoked)
  • Traditional Industries (proposed to be revoked)
  • Integrated Planning and Reporting (proposed to be revoked)
  • Digital Economy (proposed to be revoked)
  • Public Private Partnerships (proposed to be revoked)
  • Business Incentives (proposed to be revoked)

The draft policies are available for review on Council’s Have Your Say webpage.
