The NSW Floodplain Risk Management Process progresses through the following six stages:-

 

Council Establish Floodplain Risk Management Committee
Includes Council staff, community members and State Government specialists

 


  • Data Collection

    Compilation of existing date and collection of additional data undertaken by Council appointed consultant.

  • Flood Study

    Technical definition of nature and extent of flood problem undertaken by Council appointed consultant.

  • Floodplain Risk Management Plan

    Determines risk associated with flooding and options for addressing those issues.

  • Floodplain Risk Management Study

    Preferred management options publically exhibted, revised (subject to responses) and adopted by Council.

  • Implementation of the Floodplain Risk Management Plan

    Implementation of Council adopted management Strategies.
