Jan Pearce from Debt Alleviation Services will be running a free personal budgeting workshop at Bega Library in September.

Programs and Partnerships Officer, Scott Baker said that budgeting is an important life skill.

“I’m pleased that our library can offer this valuable community service,” he said.

The same workshop will be run over three different Thursdays; 15 September, 22 September or 29 September. It is a two hour workshop starting at 10am.

The workshop will cover a range of personal budgeting topics including:

  • Credit cards and why they spiral out of control
  • The emotional effects of debt and what to do about it
  • Your relationship and your relationship with money
  • Kids and money
  • Reasons to have a budget and setting SMART goals
  • How to cut down and build the basic budget

Ms Pearce has 22 years’ experience as a reliable credit and accounts receivable officer.

In January 2016 she set up her own business with the aim of helping other small businesses as well as consumers to develop effective budgeting strategies.
