Grants available to community groups, charitable and not for profit organisations within the Bega Valley Shire region for waste related projects to implement waste activity and/or education projects.

Community Waste Minimisation Projects (maximum of $5,000 per project)

  • Round 1 – October 2019 - CLOSED
  • Round 2 – 1 April 2020 to 15 May 2020 - CLOSED
  • Round 3 – 21 May 2021 to 30 June 2021 - CLOSED
  • Round 4 18 October 2022 to 5 December 2022 - CLOSED
  • Round 5 – 1 February 2023 to 31 March 2023 - CLOSED
  • Round 6 - 1 February 2024 to 2 April 2024 

Available to community groups, charitable and not for profit organisations within the Bega Valley Shire region for waste related projects to implement waste activity and/or education projects with one or more of the following outcomes:

  • Encourage and foster sustainable waste management behaviour amongst the community
  • Support innovative waste management projects
  • Increase community awareness of BVSC’s waste facilities and their role
  • Supports waste strategies undertaken by Council
  • Supports charitable organisations with the prevention of illegal dumping – this may include installation of CCTV, secure fencing, education and associated costs
  • Supports charitable and not for profit organisations with educating the community on waste minimisation

Projects must support the themes and outcomes of the Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy 2018-2028.

Background

Bega Valley Shire Council recognises the importance and significance of supporting volunteers, non-profit organisations, community groups and education providers in delivering programs and projects that have clear community benefit and align with Council's waste minimisation strategies.

The Program aims to encourage and assist community involvement in the management of waste minimisation and education for the benefit of the whole region.

Eligibility 

Before you apply, make sure your project is eligible and meets the Community Grants Program Applicant Guidelines.

Projects must support the themes and outcomes of the Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy 2018-2028.

Applying for funding

The application form can be completed online once the grant round opens.

The Bega Valley Shire Council has allocated $55,000 per annum for the Community Waste Assistance Grants program to support Schools and Community deliver waste related projects that support the themes of the Bega Valley Shire Council’s Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy 2018-2028:
