Celebrate Bandara’s 30th anniversary!
31 October 2024
Bega Valley Shire Council invites both past and present families, and community members to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Bandara Children’s Services in Bega on Saturday 2 November.
“Since first opening its doors in September 1994, Bandara Children’s Services has provided a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment where children can play, learn and grow,” Council’s Community, Environment and Planning Director, Emily Harrison said.
“With countless children and families supported over the years, and 90 children currently enrolled, Bandara has become a cornerstone of early childhood education in Bega.”
The celebration will include special recognition of long-serving staff members, including Maureen Ingram, who has served as Bandara’s cook for an incredible 29 years, and Emma Backhouse and Daryl Kelland, each with 20 years of service nurturing children through those important early years.
“Emma, Daryl and Maureen’s dedication shows how rewarding a career in early education can be, providing steady support to the families they care for,” Ms Harrison said.
Bandara is one of three Council run centres along with Eden Early Learning Centre and Sapphire Mobile Preschool.
“A recent review of our children’s services highlighted a critical need for additional childcare places across the shire, and this demand is much greater than we can currently cater for. We’re now in the very early stages of planning for a future expansion to grow our services to support more families and children into the future,” Ms Harrison said.
“In the meantime, don’t miss this opportunity to reconnect with friends, meet our dedicated educators and celebrate the incredible journey of Bandara Children’s Services. We look forward to seeing you there!”
