The project involves replacing the existing single-lane timber bridge with a modern single-span, two-lane concrete bridge and improving the road alignment. A bypass track and temporary bridge have been constructed to avoid road closures.
The existing single-span timber bridge over Murrays Creek on Buckajo Road is being replaced as part of Transport for New South Wales’ Fixing Country Bridges program.
The new bridge will be a 12-metre single-span concrete structure, slightly higher than the existing timber bridge. It will be installed by Council’s bridge team.. Following installation, the road alignment will be updated to match the new bridge.
The existing timber bridge has reached the end of its useable lifespan and required regular maintenance to remain safe for road users.
The new concrete bridge is designed for a 100-year lifespan and will require only minimal maintenance during this period. It is also far more resilient to natural disasters such as fire and flooding.
The project is fully funded through Transport for New South Wales’ Fixing Country Bridges program.
