Bega Valley Shire Library will be hitting the open road during the winter school holidays to host some exciting programs for young people in halls across the shire.

Library Services Coordinator, Yvette Parker said funding from the NSW Office for Regional Youth’s Holiday Break Grant, Library Unleashed will introduce STEM activities aimed at 12–19-year-olds in the community halls at Bemboka, Tathra, Pambula and Cobargo.

“STEM is an approach to learning and development that integrates the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics,” Ms Parker said.

“Through STEM, students develop key skills including problem solving, creativity and critical analysis.

“We understand how challenging it can be for parents and young people to coordinate work with activities during the school holidays, so we’re coming to them.

“We’ll be loading up and hitting the road between 8 and 17 July to provide a great range of free activities for young people across the shire.

“They can join in a remote-controlled car challenge, create soft circuitry projects featuring lights, make something amazing on our 3D printer, construct things, make music and so much more.

Library Unleashed also includes evening sessions at the Bega, Bermagui, Tura Beach and Eden libraries, where there will also be snacks and refreshments.”

The Library Unleashed program will run from 10am to 11.30am at:

  • Pambula Hall on Monday 8 July
  • Cobargo Hall on Wednesday 10 July
  • Bemboka Hall – Tuesday 16 July
  • Tathra Hall – Wednesday 17 July.

Library Unleashed evening sessions will run from 6pm to 7.30pm at:

  • Eden Library on Thursday 11 July
  • Bega Library on Friday 12 July
  • Bermagui Library on Thursday 18 July
  • Tura Marrang Library on Friday 19 July.
