FOGO Bin

Learn all about FOGO and what can and cannot go in your green FOGO bin.

The following items CAN go in the green FOGO bin:

Green FOGO bin with images around it show what you can put in it.
  • Food waste including fruit, vegetables, bread, rice, pasta and coffee grounds
  • Meat, bones and seafood
  • Small branches up to 50mm diameter
  • Grass clippings and weeds
  • Plants and shrub pruning
  • Flowers and leaves
  • Certified compostable caddy liners

Did you know? We only accept certified commercially compostable liners for kitchen caddis. Look for the Australian standard AS 4736 and seedling logo.

The following items MUST NOT be put in the green FOGO bin:

  • Cardboard and paper
  • Compostable or biodegradable labelled items and packaging
  • Dead animals
  • Garden equipment
  • Kitty litter
  • Logs, stumps and treated timber
  • Nappies and wipes
  • Paper towels
  • Pet waste
  • Pizza boxes
  • Plant pots
  • Plastic flowers and plants
  • Rocks and soil
  • Sawdust
  • Stickers on fruit and vegetables
  • Tea bags
