Business Activator grants support 11 local businesses

Bega Valley Shire Council is pleased to announce 11 small businesses in the shire have been successful in receiving funding from the Business Activator grant.

Bega Valley Shire Council is pleased to announce 11 small businesses in the shire have been successful in receiving funding from the Business Activator grant.

Council’s Economic Development Officer, Peter Wild said the successful business owners were required to attend Business Activator workshops or mentoring sessions before applying for a share of the $50,000 funding package.

“The successful business owners can be applauded for putting in the hard work to secure these grants,” Mr Wild said.

“The business grants will support the sustainability and resilience of these local small businesses by helping them with skills development, accreditation, equipment purchase, marketing content creation and website development.

“Arboriculture Consultancy Group will use the funding for mandatory drone operator certification with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.

“The ability to conduct aerial tree inspections will create new business opportunities and improve habitat conservation practices.

“Gourmet Coast Trail Inc will engage a local photographer to take quality photos of 20 food tourism business participants across the Bega Valley to be used in its gourmet trail marketing campaigns.

“Ryefield Hops will fund mini documentaries showcasing two key aspects of the business: the recent Certified Sustainable certification, and that the hops are local and independently owned. The aim is to extend Ryefield Hops’ marketing reach and help the owners grow the business nationally.

“Although the Business Activator program finishes at the end of June, business owners and managers are still encouraged to make use of the mentoring and workshop opportunities.”

The one-off Business Activator grants were funded by the Australian and NSW Government’s Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund.
