Venues of concern identified in Tathra and Bega

A drive-through pop-up COVID-19 testing clinic will open in Bega this weekend after Southern NSW Local Health District advised of venues of concern in Tathra and Bega.

The venues of concern as at 4:50pm Friday 8 October are:

The Wharf Locavore - Wharf Road

  • Friday 1 October 9.35am to 10.05am
  • Saturday 2 October 8.50am to 9.20am
  • Sunday 3 October 8.45am to 9.15am

Tathra Friendly Grocer - 32 Bega Street

  • Saturday 2 October 3.45pm to 4.45pm

Fat Tony's Bar Grill - 15 Bega Street

  • Friday 1 October 7.20pm to 9.20pm

Club Bega - 82 Gipps Street

  • Sunday 3 October 11.30am to 1.30pm
  • Sunday 3 October 3.30pm to 8.00pm

The pop-up testing clinic will be at the Old Bega Racecourse on Saturday 9, Sunday 10 and Monday 11 October. The drive through clinic will be open from 8.00am – 4.00pm daily. No booking is required.

To access the testing clinic, vehicles need to enter from Auckland Street, turn right onto Jacksonia Grove moving towards the corner of East Street. Traffic control will be in place.

Southern NSW Local Health District anticipates higher than normal volumes for testing over the next three days. They advise people to bring snacks and water in case they need to wait.

COVID-19 testing will also be available at South East Regional Hospital 8.00am – 4.00pm daily.

Bega Valley Shire Mayor, Cr Russell Fitzpatrick said everyone should be extra vigilant and aware of any symptoms.

“Anyone who visited a venue of concern at the times listed is a casual contact and must immediately get tested and isolate until a negative result is received,” Cr Fitzpatrick said.

“Staff of the venues will be contacted separately by the Southern NSW Local Health District’s Public Health Unit regarding their testing and isolation requirements.

“It’s good to hear a pop-up testing clinic is being set up at the Old Bega Racecourse to relieve pressure on the already busy testing clinic at the South East Regional Hospital.

“If you visited a venue of concern and checked in using the Service NSW QR code, NSW Health will notify you as soon as possible via SMS.

“This is a time for everyone to be extra alert for any COVID-19 symptoms. If you have even the mildest headache, nausea, sore throat, runny nose, cough, loss of smell or taste, or fever, get tested.

“This is also a timely reminder to check in to all venues. Failing to do so makes contact tracing difficult and places the community at risk.”
