NSW Health has advised there were no detections of COVID-19 in the most recent samples from the sewage treatment plants in Eden, Bermagui, Merimbula and Bega.

The samples were from Wednesday 1 and Thursday 2 September 2021.

Council is sending samples from these plants twice weekly to NSW Health for testing.

Bega Valley Shire Mayor, Russell Fitzpatrick said although the testing results were negative, we must remain vigilant.

“Unfortunately, there are confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Batemans Bay and Cooma – our neighbours,” Cr Fitzpatrick said.

“We all have a part to play in keeping COVID-safe and we ask everyone to ensure you are familiar with the current COVID-19 restrictions and to follow COVID-safe best practice wherever you are.

“If you are experiencing symptoms such as headache, nausea, sore throat, runny nose, cough, loss of smell or taste, or fever, you must get tested and you need to isolate until a negative result is received.

“We have testing clinics in Bega and Pambula with minimal queues, so there’s no excuse to not get tested should you be experiencing even the mildest of symptoms.”

South East Regional Hospital’s COVID-19 drive-through testing clinic is open every day from 8am to 4pm.

The Pambula Hospital testing clinic is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am to 1pm. Pre-registration is preferred; call 1800 318 248.
